Understand the importance of precision in shipping and receiving radioactive materials, including the risks of improper handling such as radiation exposure and environmental contamination
Learn about the types of radioactive material packages, including:
Excepted, Industrial (IP-1, IP-2, IP-3), Type A, and Type B packages
Safety features and purposes of each package type
Master the regulatory steps for receiving radioactive materials, including:
Monitoring contamination and radiation levels upon receipt (NRC §20.1906)
Inspecting packages for damage and following safe opening procedures
