Course Description
This intermediate-level course provides advanced training on the Incident Command System (ICS) for managing complex and multi-agency emergency incidents. Participants will learn how to apply advanced ICS principles, coordinate large-scale operations, and manage incident planning, unified command, and demobilization activities during major emergency response events.
- Reinforces foundational Incident Command System principles and reviews how ICS structures and processes are applied during complex emergency incidents and large-scale response operations.
- Explains the structure, purpose, and operational benefits of unified command systems used to coordinate multi-agency responses across multiple jurisdictions and organizations.
- Covers incident and event assessment procedures including establishing operational objectives, aligning agency priorities, and supporting coordinated emergency response decision-making.
- Reviews the incident planning process including the development and implementation of Incident Action Plans (IAPs), operational period management, resource allocation, and response coordination strategies.
- Explains demobilization planning, transfer of command procedures, and incident close-out processes designed to support safe operational transitions and organized incident termination activities.
