Course Program
Course Description
This 24-hour course prepares in-house emergency response teams to safely and effectively respond to hazardous material spills. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to perform both defensive and offensive actions during emergency responses, ensuring compliance with OSHA’s HAZWOPER standards.
- Recognize and assess chemical spills and hazardous material incidents
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of Emergency Responder Level III employees
- Learn defensive techniques to contain and mitigate spills from a safe distance
- Master offensive strategies for direct spill control and cleanup operations
- Develop and implement site-specific emergency response plans
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and respiratory protection effectively
- Conduct hazard assessments and establish site control zones
- Participate in classroom-based, tabletop, or live scenario exercises tailored to your facility
- Practice real-world spill response techniques in a controlled environment
- Satisfy the annual refresher requirement with an 8-hour program customized for your facility
