Fire Fighter Rescue (RIT Awareness)

This course provides firefighters with essential knowledge of Rapid Intervention Teams (RIT), focusing on their role in rescuing firefighters in distress. Participants will learn RIT procedures, equipment use, and best practices to ensure readiness for MAYDAY situations and improve fireground safety.

• Learn the AWARE acronym for RIT essentials: Air: Provide a separate air supply for the victim, Water: Use hoselines to establish a defendable position, A Radio: Maintain dedicated communication with the victim, Extrication: Utilize tools to free trapped firefighters
• Explore common challenges and misconceptions about RIT readiness
• Master key RIT skills, including: MAYDAY procedures, Air changeover techniques, Drags and extrication methods, Confined space rescue
  Understand the importance of situational awareness and communication during RIT operations
• Review real-world case studies highlighting the impact of RIT preparedness
• Learn industry standards and best practices, including NFPA guidelines for RIT training and deployment

NFPA 1407: Standard for Training Fire Service Rapid Intervention Crews, NFPA 1710: Standard for the Organization and Deployment of Fire Suppression Operations and NFPA 1720: Standard for Volunteer Firefighter Deployment and Operations
