Course Program
Course Description
This course equips employees with the knowledge and skills to safely and effectively use fire extinguishers during incipient stage fires. Participants will learn fire extinguisher types, operating procedures, and decision-making strategies to determine when to fight a fire and when to evacuate.
- Understand the combustion process and the different fire classes (A, B, C, D, K)
- Learn about fire extinguisher types, their capabilities, and limitations
- Master basic firefighting concepts, including:
- R.A.C.E.: Rescue, Alarm, Contain, Extinguish/Evacuate
- P.A.S.S.: Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep
- Recognize when it is safe to use a fire extinguisher and when to evacuate
- Learn proper fire incident reporting procedures
- Participate in live burn exercises (if requested) to practice operating a fire extinguisher
