Course Description

This Fall Protection/Competent Person training provides in-depth knowledge and hands-on exercises for individuals designated as Competent Persons (CP) in fall protection. Participants will learn to identify, evaluate, and control fall hazards, perform hazard analyses, and implement effective fall protection systems in compliance with OSHA standards.

Fall Protection Overview (Competent Person Focus):
The need for fall protection and hazard analysis
Recognizing and evaluating fall hazards specific to work criteria
Implementing control measures and understanding fall prevention vs. protection
Fall clearance and total fall distance calculations
Personal Fall Arrest Systems (Hands-On):
Inspection, donning, and fit testing of PPE
Selection, application, and care of fall protection equipment
Fall Protection Applications:
Safe practices for aerial lifts and ladders
Rescue procedures, including self-rescue and assisted self-rescue
Fall victim care and first-on-the-scene response
Practical Exercises:
Fall hazard task evaluation and hazard analysis exercises
