Course Description
This course provides specialized training on the safe handling, storage, and response to chlorine ton cylinder incidents. Participants will learn to recognize chlorine hazards, implement safe handling procedures, and respond effectively to leaks or emergencies involving chlorine cylinders.
- Understand the properties, uses, and hazards of chlorine in gas and liquid forms
- Learn the chemical behavior of chlorine, including its reactions with water, oil, and grease
- Follow proper procedures for handling and storing chlorine ton cylinders
- Understand the importance of dry, oil-free air for purging and ensuring piping is free of water
- Identify chlorine’s physical properties, including its weight relative to air and its rapid expansion
- Use chlorine monitoring instruments effectively, focusing on measurements near the floor
- Respond to chlorine leaks and spills safely and effectively
- Recognize and mitigate risks of frostbite, burns, and other injuries caused by chlorine exposure
- Implement safe practices to prevent uncontrolled exposure and chemical reactions
- Understand the importance of isolating chlorine from incompatible substances
