Course Description
This 40-hour course is required for individuals working on government-listed hazardous waste sites. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills to recognize chemical spills, perform defensive and offensive response actions, and verify site remediation efforts, ensuring compliance with OSHA’s HAZWOPER standards.
- Learn what constitutes a government-listed hazardous waste site and the requirements for working on such properties
- Identify and assess chemical spills and hazardous material incidents
- Perform defensive and offensive actions to mitigate hazards
- Verify site remediation efforts and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards
- Develop and implement site-specific emergency response plans
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and establish site control zones
- Participate in practical exercises to apply knowledge in real-world scenarios
