Scissor Lifts
Course Program
Course Description
This training provides essential knowledge on scaffolding safety, focusing on OSHA compliance, fall protection, structural requirements, and hazard prevention. Participants will learn proper inspection, maintenance, and safe work practices to reduce risks and ensure a safe work environment.
Why Scaffold Safety Matters:
Common causes of scaffold-related injuries and fatalities
Importance of compliance to prevent falls, collapses, and improper use
Scope & Application of OSHA Subpart L:
Types of scaffolds covered, including supported, suspended, and aerial lifts
Key scaffold components and their functions
Structural & Load Requirements:
Load capacity standards (e.g., scaffolds must support 4x the maximum intended load)
Suspension rope and hoist capacity requirements
Design and structural integrity by a qualified person
Fall Protection & Access:
Mandatory fall protection for scaffolds 10 feet or higher
Guardrails, personal fall arrest systems, and safe access points
Restrictions on climbing scaffold frames
Inspection & Maintenance Protocols:
Daily inspections by a competent person to identify hazards
Immediate correction or removal of unsafe scaffolds
Training Requirements:
Training for scaffold users and supervisors on hazard recognition, fall protection, and emergency procedures
Retraining when new hazards or equipment changes occur
Competent & Qualified Persons:
Roles and responsibilities for scaffold erection, moving, and dismantling
Competent person: hazard identification and corrective action
Qualified person: solving scaffold-related problems with expertise
Consequences of Non-Compliance:
OSHA penalties for violations and associated legal liabilities
