Course Description

This Confined Space Entry training equips entrants, attendants, and permit supervisors with the knowledge to safely identify, evaluate, and manage hazards associated with confined spaces. Participants will learn the differences between Permit-Required and Non-Permit-Required confined spaces, proper entry procedures, and the roles and responsibilities of the confined space entry team.

  • Definitions and characteristics of confined spaces

  • Common hazards, including hazardous atmospheres and physical risks
  • Signs, labeling, and hazard communication for confined spaces
  • Completing confined space entry and hot-work permits
  • Alternate entry procedures for specific confined spaces
  • Duties of entrants, attendants, and supervisors during confined space operations
  • Rules governing outside contractors working in confined spaces
  • Selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ventilators, atmospheric testing devices, and other entry equipment
